Adam Soch – Cluj-Napoca, Romania 🇷🇴

Adam lives in the beautiful city of Cluj-Napoca, a city in northwestern Romania, which is the unofficial capital of the Transylvania region. It’s home to universities, vibrant nightlife and landmarks dating to Saxon and Hungarian rule. Surrounding its central square, PiaÈ›a Unirii, is the Gothic-style St. Michael’s Church and the dramatic Matthias Corvinus Statue of the 15th-century king. Adam is a documentary filmmaker and editor, fun fellow and believes in Karma. He is also a Superhost and runs Relax Cluj Apartment and Terrace in Cluj-Napoca. Let’s find out more about him:

Adam, how long have you been hosting for? How and why did you start? How many properties do you manage?

I have 1 property and doing it for about 1 year. I did set out for a high QUALITY Place where the guest can feel and relax the best. I wanted some extra income.

Are you an owner or a manager? Is this a part time or full time occupation for you?

I am the owner of the Apartment. It is a part time occupation, some extra money.

What is the best thing about hosting, and what are the biggest problems you face?

I love it when guests appreciate my place, the design and say I WILL BE BACK, and it is happening more and more. So far so good, but if my neighbours would complain about traffic or noise, IT WOULD BE bad for me.

What is one thing you wish you knew when you started hosting?

That each guest is different and there are different requests sometime. But I manage and got used to it.

What is the most important advise/tip you would give someone interested in becoming a short term rental host?

Get ready to pay someone to take care of your rentals, including cleaning the place, or spend more time managing it yourself.

Besides Hosthub, are there any tools, devices or software (eg. Remote keylocks, cameras, local guide apps, power meters, etc) you use? What is your experience with them?

I tried others like Hosthub, but yours was simpler, affordable and more reliable.

Which channels do you list on? How much has your revenue increased since listing on multiple channels?

I list on 6 channels, but Booking and AirBnB are the most most lucrative for me. Nothing yet from Trip Advisor or Home Away or Atraveo.

Besides listing on multiple channels, what other things can a host do to increase his/her bookings and revenue?

Create a webpage, Facebook and Instagram Page. People talk and see. If they like what they see, they call.
